Why I’d Fight A Horse-Sized Duck

1 horse-sized duck or 100 duck-sized horses?

Would you rather battle 1 horse sized duck or 100 duck sized horses?

A classical philosophical question. Your answer says a lot about you.

To me, the answer is easy.

I’m taking on the horse sized-duck, all day every day.

Here’s why.

First, with the horse sized duck you only need one thing - a loaf of bread. Rip that puppy up into bread crumbs and throw em around.

Now, with the horse sized duck distracted by its innate infatuation with bread crumbs, you jump on its back and wrangle it into submission.

Say goodnight, Mr. Mutant Duck.

With the gang of tiny horses, you’d be swarmed. Some would take out your legs and others would go high.

The small stallions would have an absolute field day. It wouldn’t be pretty.

Most importantly, I’d wage war with the horse duck because IT’S ONLY ONE THING TO FOCUS ON.

I’d like you to do the same with your fitness efforts.

Focus on one thing at a time.

If you go the duck sized horse route with your fitness, you’ll drive yourself crazy with worrying about everything:

“Am I eating the right kind of food?”

“Which type of bicep curl is best?”

“Should I do cardio before or after weights?”

These questions will overwhelm you and you’ll get nowhere.

Instead, pick one big thing and do it well. For example, you could start with sleep.

Build habits and establish a routine to get 7-8 hours of high quality sleep/night. Then, only after you’ve completed that aspect, move on to another important goal, like getting 8-10k steps/day or resistance training.

Don’t be overwhelmed

Fitness is overwhelming. Try not to get pulled in a million directions.

Pick one thing, knock it out of the park, then stack another win on top and keep the ball rolling.
