Hear me out. I’m not claiming that it’s a health food, but French toast can indeed be healthy. If you make it this way, it can be chock full of:

I can’t take any credit. Coach Greg Doucette popularized this recipe and it has taken the fitness world by storm. It’s: 

  • delicious  

  • filling  

  • makes dieting a LOT more fun   

Best of all, it’s quick and requires very little clean up. After making these, you won’t be tasked with washing every bowl in your cupboard or wiping up drops of batter from every corner of your kitchen like you will after making other breakfast foods…

This recipe is commonly referred to as “anabolic French toast” due to their high protein content, but I prefer to call them “fat-burning" because of the combination of high fiber, high volume, and high satiety (ability to make you feel full). In terms:

…you will not find a better bang for your bang than fat-burning French toast.


If your goal is muscle gain, make the recipe even more anabolic by:

  • mixing whole eggs with the egg whites

  • using sourdough or Ezekiel bread instead of low calorie options

  • topping with a heaping scoop of almond or peanut butter


If your goal is fat loss, stick to the egg whites low calorie bread. Remember, no foods are actually “fattening” or “fat burning”.
